Died you know that there are two major types of liquor license classifications? On-license and off-license and the one that you purchase will depend on exactly how you want to sell liquor. As you are opening your new establishment, make sure that you ask yourself this and make sure that you get exactly what you need. This article will give you a basic idea of what you are looking for and how you should be purchasing your license whether you want a 4cop liquor license or something entirely different. The Two Main Types of Liquor Licenses When it comes down to it there are two major types of liquor licenses available to you which include: On-License –This is the type of license that you would seek out if you intend to have alcohol consumed on your premises. For example if you are a bar or a restaurant and you intend to serve drinks to tables or even at the bar. You don’t plan for people to carry alcohol out of your restaurant and it will be your responsibility to make sure that it isn’t consumed outside. Off-License –If you are a liquor store or a grocery store then this is the type of license that you would be seeking. This allows you to sell bottled of canned alcohol intended for the customer to take home with them. For example a six pack of beer or a bottle of liquor. Gas stations are another great example so keep that in mind. Delving Further Into the License Types There are other license types that you will want to consider, of course, but what are they exactly? Restaurant License –This is an example of an On-License and it involves a limit on how much of your establishment’s earnings can come from alcohol. You can sell any type of alcohol you want – there is no limit in that regard, but you will need to consider the financial limit. Typically it’s about 40%, so keep that in mind as you are running your business. Note that this is also referred to as a 4COP or quota liquor license. Essentially, 4COP simply means that the beer and wine is intended for consumption on premises. Beer and Wine – Your establishment might not be intended for the sale of hard liquor in which case you would only need a beer and wine license. Alcohol sales can be complicated but the licensing doesn’t have to bring your business to a standstill. Look into the different types of licenses right now and make your endeavor a success.
